Default Mahle Pistons?

Who here is running them? How much boost, etc.. Engine builder recommended them and I didn't know how the LS1tech crowd felt about them.

The dished boost pistons seem to have thin ringlands and have failed on a few people. If you do them, stick with flat-tops.

I have them. Haven't tested them yet still finishing up little odds and ends before I go get it tuned. I have flat tops with 72cc heads and will be putting 18psi on them! Fingers crossed!

The dish pistons could use a few refinements, but overall they are good pistons. Most piston failures are due to missed or poor tunes. Here and there you will get a defect in one, but the majority of the time other issues cause the pistons to fail. If you are skeptical, use a quality piston from the company's like Diamond, JE, CP, Wiseco, or Race Pack. All of the pistons mentioned will be quality pistons

I run the living hell out of them. I use them because the inexpensive, i run the -4cc. I have even rattled them really bad a few times with no problems.

The building who is going to freshen up the block and install the cam bearings said he is running them in a few high boost motors with no problems whatsoever. I have heard some good things about them from local guys so I just figured I would ask you guys.

Research the alloys they are made of, I've seen problems with them over 12# and supposedly it was due to the AL alloy not being the right combo.

I went with Diamond and they use a 2618 on FI pistons.
