Default wastegate sizing

Where can I find some good info about wastegate sizing? The search does come up with some things but it doesn't really answer my questions. Is there just a set size for a particular application or can you get away with running a smaller wastegate if the plumbing to and from the wastegate are optimal and more efficient? I have a 408 lsx build with twin 72's. I'm looking at a 417 motorsports build and I was curious if twin 38's would suffice. I would go with the 44's that tial makes but their mounting setup would cause a big change in the header build that 417 does in conjunction with their down pipe. The reason being is because with this thing wicked up it will be useless on the street and I would like to wind it down to 650-750 on the street and not have to worry about boost creep issues since it would have to achieve a low boost level. I am curious to see what some of the turbo gurus would think of running 38's since the plumbing path that 417 does is very short and what I believe to be very efficient to bleed off excess exhaust gas without restriction. Thanks Chris

I ran 38mm tials on my 402 with twin t76's. boost was rock solid at 10.5 psi until I turned the boost controller on. I'm going to go with a pair of the tial 38mm v-band gates on the new build.

Hey keep the info coming guys. I appreciate it. Hey sr71 what happened after you turned the boost controller on. What kind of power were you putting down at 10psi with the 76's. It probably was pretty squirrely wasn't it. Thanks again Chris

I tuned the car at the track and on the street, so I never had the car on a dyno. the only dyno numbers that I cared about were the 1/8th mile dyno numbers. the car went 6.000 @ 120mph on 10.5 psi. with a home depot boost controller, it went 5.59 @ 130mph on 14.6 psi. it was a big tire car and didn't get squirrely.

Hey mabe Jose or someone can chime in on the subject as well. I'll be calling ya anyways here in a week or so about wastegates, bov and a garret core for the intercooler as well. I just bought the tc72's from ya. Thanks Chris
