The BB unit seems to be more stable when punished on this setup.
What AR housing would you recomend for a TC78 on a 383,ported heads, small turbo cam,16-18 psi boost spinning to 6700 rpm ?

currently have a .96, spools stupidly fast, but power falls off fast from around 5000 rpm, holds boost 15.5psi to the limiter.

am considering trying a 1.32 AR houseing.

I have a 4xx ci and a gts 76 from force inductions. I also have stock untouch manifolds running 2 1/2 exhaust to the stock I on a camaro exhaust running a t4 flange. I see fullboost a 3,700 rpm depending on how hot or cold the day is. Current numbers in the sig. My peak tq is at 5k rpm hp just climb to 7k rpm no fall off. I have been told my turbo is too small for my app but my goal was met and I dont have back pressure problems. I dont have the numbers from the mesurements because I did a comparsion between a 3 inch exhaust pipe fo a 4. inch down pipe and it was a big differance and I lost that dam sheet.. But it works for me allso I have a ton of custom **** done to my rearmount.

Thanks for the example outlawz racing! My setup has been worked over real similar to yours ... untouched '02 manifolds, 2.5" ory, lots of wrap, 4" downpipe, etc. What a/r is your 76gts?

So what are the spec differences that cause the TC76 to outspool the 76gts, but let the 76gts produce more hp? Outlawz Racing, it sounds like your .81 exhaust a/r setup spools pretty good and doesn't have backpressure problems even with 422 cubes. I keep hearing .96 exhaust a/r suggestions ... I wonder how much of a spool difference and/or top end difference there would be between the 2.

Not sure on the differance but I think the turbine has a better build on the tc series.

TC76 uses a smaller F1 turbine side, which spools a good bit faster, but doesn't support as much power. So its a trade off.

So Dr. Turbo ... you say that it wont support as much power as the 76gts ... so what's the limit hp # wise mounted in the rear? So far we've uncovered one tc76 mounted in the rear of a truck, still no f-body rearmounts have posted examples.

btw tahoeryan ... how did a bolt go through your turbo? Did it go through the compressor from not running an air filter or something?

Highest we have seen rear mounted is 701rwhp that I have heard about.....but I'm sure their are alot more folks out there running these turbos making more power then that. We have sold tons of these units.

@ 9psi??? wow, that is a ton of power at that low of a boost. I know they can put down some big #'s.

Not sure, on my way up to Speed Inc., the turbo started to make some chatter and I asked them to look it over. Got a call that there was about a four inch bolt that was in the exhaust bouncing off the turbine Not sure how it got there because it has a filter, best guess is that it had some exhaust work done right before I bought it so I don't know if something got left in there and finally let loose or what. That's why I'm upgrading the turbo. Hopefully it will ship from forced inductions this week as i've been without my car for a couple months.

Oh, by the way, my car dynoed at 708rwhp with the gts 76 and a 408.
