Default Would this be safe....

I am picking up a rear mount setup. I currently have just a cam only car and will most likely be swapping out the cam for something with a little higher lsa. My car has a STOCK bottom end. I havent had the car on a ~reliable~ dyno to see what it actually makes, but you can kinda get an idea from the track times in my sig, its a F14 cam. Anyway, I know I need to go forged to do this right. For right now I am just kinda looking for a nice kick in the pants compared to my cam only setup. This will not be a max effort setup by no means for the time being. I know I see a lot of threads on here about "How much can the stock bottom hold" kinda stuff. I am looking for about ~450ish hp or so, maybe even a little less, just a little umph from what I have been used to for the time being while I save to do the bottom. Anyone think I would have any problems if I am only looking for these kinda numbers on the stock bottom? Or am I just asking for trouble? The car doesnt get drove much to begin with also. Car is an 01ws6. Thanks

Well, depending on mileage and some other factors, Usually no, 450 is not a problem on the stock bottom end.

That being said the one thing that bothers me the most is you saying that you have never had the car on a reliable dyno, makes me wonder if you have a reliable tuner, which is the biggest factor in keeping the stock bottom end alive under boost.

An sts or "cheap" custom job will get you there. But you have to ask yourself if you want to buy the setup one time and have all the parts and just up the boost when you forge the bottom or if you want a 450hp kit and do something different like a front mount post forged parts? I am in the same boat and probably moving mine to the front right now.

well, were I am from my tuner is a god! I had one guy do it on some bullshit dyno and said it made 427hp and 436tq(whatever). the tune I have now with a different tuner is a safe street tune and runs pretty good. he said it wasn't a proble and he has done many of them. the car has high mileage which is why I want to keep it toned down, just looking for a little extra kick. hoping low boost won't be an issue

I assume you did springs with your cam? and if you keep the RMP's reasonable (stock rev) and a good safe tune you should be fine. Whats size turbo with the rear mount you are getting?

I have manley duals good to .650 lift, manley hardened rods, f14 cam(probably taking it out) I have the light set at 6300, limiter at 6500. its a 60mm turbo(i know its a tad small) I am just wanting a little more at this point till I save for a bottom end.

I have a little over 500 hp on my stock bottom end and its been running good with no problems, and my engine is close 90000 miles, but like a guy said earlier it depends how good of a tune you got, also what kind of beating has the engine had through the miles that are on it....I would say you shouldnt have any problems at 450 hp

I beat lol. I take to the track here and there. probably has 100 or so passes, NOT a DD though. still, only shooting for 450ish hp probably not the 480whp I said earlier, I don't want to push it
