Default Y-pipe downpipe?

This may sound stupid, but Im just brainstorming. I know that alot of people want to retain stock k-member but be able to run more than a 3-inch DP. Is it possible to run like a 4" pipe off the turbo and then y-pipe it down to 2 2"(or watever) pipes? That way we can manage to run 2 smaller pipes and retain stock k-member. Or am I retarded?

the money spent in parts and fab work would probably pay for a k member. I think 2 3" pipes flow about the same as a single 4"

a K member is 600+ shipping. It would be may cheaper to do piping. I live in Alaska and shipping on a k member is about 250.

Besides, I have 6 months of winter to play with this.lol
