Weird back fire issue--imput please
bone stock 5.3 180k
borg warner s476 turbo
lpe 2 step with boost retard
60# injectors
ngk tr6 plugs gaped at 28
Problem -
drove the truck to the track about 15 miles , went through tech , got wrist band , let truck cool for about 10-15 min, i pull up to the line do my burn out
stage and apply the trans brake and 2 step , hold for a few seconds , green light and here we go , i get out about 60' and bang pow pop, huge back fire and the truck shuts off. temp is at about 230 and nothing . i start the truck on the go and drive out to the pits , temp still real high ..
possible cause ?
ok i check the oil for coolant , the coolant for oil , nothing ..
i check all plugs and they are fine , no fuel , no water , light brown like normal
i start the truck , it dose not miss , it dose not smoke , and runs fine.
anyone have an idea of what this could be?
the only thing i changed before going to the track was , i gapped the plugs from 32 to 28 , thought the truck was blowing out spark .
hooked up the lpe box with 3 bar and set all the retard settings to 0.
im just confused , and have no idea what could have caused my truck to back fire , shut off , and get real hot at the same time . then 1 hr later drive home like nothing ever happened.
my first thought is the truck is real rich and it may have loaded up real bad and just could not burn all the fuel.
