67 firebird turbo setup My truck manifolds don't work flipped (discharging down to the front), only work if I keep them on the correct sides flipped 180º so now the exhaust discharges up and to the front. I really wanted the exhaust low close to the upper control arm, but these things hit, what manifolds are you guys using? Would these work? Also, attached some pics of the car this stuff is going into. Not very good shots of where the manifolds will hit, will get some taken and posted up, but you get the idea!

Cant help with the manifolds much but thats a nice looking project you got there! I chose to stick with the stock 400 in my 68 Firebird, wanted something different and these days stock is different...lol.

LOL that's awesome man. I had a 464ci pontiac, e-headed (ported by KRE), solid roller setup before this motor. Car isn't much to look at since it was sitting outside rusting for a few years after parting the 464 out. Car originally was a gold 6 cylinder grandma car out of lordstown ohio, all hacked up, so I didn't mind doing the conversion. My dad still rocks a true pontiac! He's got a 68 GTO with a 428 pontiac that currently run's 12's. =)
Here is a shot of my LS2 GTO manifold for reference.
The tall suspension layout of my gen2 prevented a low exhaust like you are wanting, but I think these might work for you.
Cool ride. I always wanted a early poncho, but I scored my rolling chassis cheap!

I wanted to avoid relocating coils if possible, I flipped them, took some pics (will xfer here in a few on my laptop) and am going to have to move them, not sure where to get brackets and what looks nice... this is frustrating!
I made some simple brackets from 1/4-20 all thread and some aluminum L-stock.
Not high tech, but it looks fine all painted black.
I mounted mine down low on the firewall on each side because I wanted them out of site for aclean old school look.
Your plug wires will thank you for this because they will be further away from the turbos and manifolds.
You can see the coils in this pic down low in each corner.

Jim, that looks amazing man. Did you just have to get some sort of extensions for the harness? Not 100% understanding how the hell you made them look that good with all-thread and some L stock, lol. I'm not much of a fabricator to be honest. =\

I took the plunge and got the same style manifolds as you, apparently they're 05-08 C6 manifolds, the GTO's are the ones I have pictured second in my first post. I bought the ones on top, $69 with shipping, not too awful bad for a new set of manifolds. =) Now will have to unload my beautiful truck manifolds! We'll see how this works out, I would really love to have them down low, especially with the S480, I'm afraid with the way the manifolds are facing up (truck manifolds), I'll be using precious space up front with those things hanging out up high where the turbo will be. Thanks again.

Thanks for posting up the pictures and ideas. Those of us who are a few steps behind in our builds need all the ideas we can get. I'll be doing something similar to CamaroLS1 in my '69 Nova. I am going to drop off my block for machining this afternoon. Let us know how the manifolds work out, and where did you get them from?
The 67-69 f-body front frame and 68-74 Nova are the same or very close I think. I am just about finished with a early 70's Nova and I stock most manifolds and can tell you that none of them fit forward and down. I tried - truck manifolds, C6 vette, C5 vette, F-body, '10 Camaro, GTO and CTS-V.
I ended up with upside C6s on this one, it works fine, but doesn't look nearly as nice as something forward and down. I feel your pain.

That isn't what I wanted to hear. haven't got my motor in the 68 but was planning on using the truck mani's. there's got to be a way to get them down low and forward. hopefully one of us will have a brainstorm and get it done and post a pic.

Well it hits the upper control arm with truck manifolds, I can vouch for that, they also work flipped upside down facing up too, they just sit so damn far forward with the discharge still up at a 45 or so it looks crazy. Well, I didn't invest much in the c6 manifolds I bought, still waiting for them to get here, so I'll be fine flipping them (I have pictures of your setup you posted Yellow) since they look a HELL of a lot better than truck manifolds.

this is my thread. Just didn't want to post all the pics over again. C6 would work I just don't wanna have the pipes coming up. I like the down low and forward look. Really don't want to have to build a set of logs. would it be a bad idea to cut the truck manifolds and reweld the flange so there is less degree to it? which engine mounts are you using, custom or store bought?

I've done forward and down manifolds on my 71 Nova. Search my user name for pics, I'd link it but I'm on my phone. Trailblazer mani on the left with a vband and mounting flange angle milled 8 degrees. LS4 mani on the right. You need to mod a small area on the subframe to get the LS4 to fit right but its not bad. The end result with forward and down looks very nice. Your welcome.
I did not but Im looking at a couple other options now as Im working on mass producing these kits for first gen Camaros and third gen Novas.
