Need some input from some experts
1.) What is a safe boost pressure to run at daily, but still make good power and put down good times?
2.) Will i be able to safely run boost with the cam i have? The cam is a TR224/563/112. I know i would be leaving some power on the table, but i am not to overly concerned with it.
3.) Will the engines internals hold up to the boost? the car is only drag raced about 4 times a year if that, and expierences maybe 2-3 WOT runs a month(seriously).
The car is getting a 12 bolt so i know the rear will be able to handle it, and a SPEC stage 3 is on it's way right now. What would be a good gear ratio for this setup?
Thanks in advance for any input/advice/tips anyone here has.
for boost you have to tune it to see how much will work, but it ussaully is around 7-8psi for pump gas
IMO spec is junk, i had a stage 3 or 4 and it didnt last long, pressure plate wouldnt hold and tore up the clutch.
im trying a ram/mcloud combo, same that Harlan was using on his 10.00 pass.
ive also heard cartek holds up pretty well.
As for boost I would run 7psi if I were you. That boost plus other bolt ons produces pretty good power and is the max I would go for reliability reasons. Use a catch can also. You'll thank yourself later.
For a gear ratio go with a 3.42s. I have 4.11s and its horrible cuz all you do is spin. Cars dont go fast when they dont hook. If you went to the track a lot then you might want 3.73s but thats only if you'll be using ET streets or slicks. I am going back to 3.42s in the spring.
