Head to piston clearance
Head to piston clearance I have a iron 403 I'm putting together for a future F1A with a forged rotating assembly purchased from EPP. The pistons (Diamond - part # 11551) are non quench (squish LOL) but the flat portion protrude above the deck about .003 - .005 of an inch. The pistons have a 015. or so chamber built into the edge of the pistons. They are installed with .006 side clearance. My question is will a .041 gasket give me enough piston to head clearance. Also, this setup gives me approx. 9.28 - 9.3 comp. Do you think that will be alright or should I have the head mill to get me to the desired 9.5. I'm looking to spin this motor to 6800 - 7000 rpm.

I'm no expert but from experience my last motor had .035" of quench or squish if you want to call it that and no problems at 7000rpms. Depends on your rods too. I'd leave the compression at 9.2-3.
