turbo 5.3 swap?
turbo 5.3 swap? I have a 95 trans am im swapping in a 2003 5.3 from a Avalanche with 15000 miles on it. The transmission will be a 4L80E. I have all the parts to start. I was going to wait to do a turbo kit until the car was on the road but with winter i wont be driving the car anyway. I have a ls6 intake i havent bought injectors yet. I want a semi mild kit mainly street use but i would like to get in the 11s or 12s. I also need to buy a fuel pump. What turbo should i run. Is there any turbos off of other vehicles like cummins or powerstrokes that work well with the truck manifold set ups. I have access to alot of used parts. I will be making all the parts i can besides turbo flanges(mill time is at premium right now). I have acess to tubing benders and i have a couple welders and saws. Anything to say before i jump in. I read the FAQS and really helped thanks guys.
im also doing a 5.3 build there isn't that much bending of pipes that i see in most of the front mount turbos pipping should be easy, there is a lot of threads on here with 5.3 builds, check them out lots of pics and info
yeah ive seen alot of the builds im really curious what turbo i should run. I also want to know what if any turbos off of stock FI vehicles would work with this application. Also how or if you guys check your charge piping for leaks after welding. Thanks
