Default 317's and meth and stock shortblock

I am doing my sts build now, going with a epp cam, just curious if its worth doing 317 heads. I will be running meth and have a fmic. I figure if anything I have a safety blanket for when I turn up the boost. Will dropping the comp affect my performance at 8psi boost compared to the 241 heads? If I can somehow get this car to hook im thinking I may press my luck upwards toward 12psi.

I went with 317s for the same reason.

Installing the 317's is a good idea for several reasons. You drop compression ratio about a point. It gives you a chance to install better head bolts or studs and head gaskets. And, I think they flow a bit better than the 241's?

yup I have 317's on mine, they are a good investment if you are going to be running on the street and with them being so cheap you can get those and save for some big ones with a better deck so you can really turn up the boost.

Yes. I think the 317's flow 240-250ish CFM. I the 241's are lower then that. I just put 317's on mine and I'll see what she does tomorrow.

sounds good, the gm head gaskets are what everyone uses right, the .051". A bit off topic, but what is the part # for the gm 2 bar map sensor, I know it has changed, getting confused with the searches. thanks
