Default Need help with buying a turbo!

I have been looking and reading on turbos for a while now. I found one on ebay, but was wanting some input from some knowledgable people on tech. I can pm the link if someone will take a look at it and help me out with some pros and cons.

Why don't you just list what it is? If it's a chinacharger don't get it.

It looks to be a lot of JDM parts. Is that a good/decent brand? Or is it just another cheap part. I am not looking for the best parts, but I do want it to last.

not sure of the quality of JDM parts, but they look to be ok? Looks like a decent kit, but I am new to the scene and the low price is throwing me off.

as it should, the turbo in that turbo wont last, its cheapo, as far as the piping, im sure its just random elbows thrown together.

There is a guy here who is currently doing an EBAY build. its recent enough to be around the first 3 pages of this section. give it a look, im sure itll halp you out

cool thanks for the help. is the quality just not there? which in turn makes the parts not last more than a year?

poor quality, most people who do a kit like that, will buy there own turbo and bov and waste gate. Those parts are TOO IMPORTANT to go cheap on.

That turbo won't support enough power for an ls1 nor last
get a decent turbo for it.

So it is it worth it at all? I don't want to spend all the time to put this kit together, get a good turbo only to have another part fail. I don't have the money for a STS kit.

if you buy the parts you can get a turbo from Modular for ~$500 and you can look at FI.com for some of their budget turbos. But if you are looking to do a budget build you better read up because FI is very involved and you are going to spend some money on other things to support what you are doing. Best to read the sticky. Real price for forced induction

i also reccomend you spend with rob at modularturbo.
those ebay deals will provide no warranty, no type of customer service, no support and dont even think of getting any help should anything go wrong or be defective with the turbo. pretty much sold as-is.

NemeSS and the fugitive thanks for the referal.

They are all correct Chinabay = garbage turbos

I sell every brand of turbocharger and the absolute most reliable and inexpensive turbos are Masterpower turbos. Your typical MP turbo for an LS1 powered vehicle starts at 600 dollars, from there it goes up depending on size, horsepower goals, brand, etc.... Give us a call I would be glad to help you out.

We also have a single and twin turbo kit coming out soon for 98-02 F-bodies.

Thanks for reading,
Rob@modularturbo
