You will need to pass the obd2 check. This means no codes and all obd2 system tests must be complete.
You won't get a second chance exhaust sniff anymore if you fail the obd2 check.
Codes are no biggy, but the system checks will be tougher to get around if you have removed any smog equipment or are using a aftermarket engine management system.

Indiana and Kentucky are Smog **** free! (and there's no "state Inspection" in IN, either!)
Of course now that I have a OBDII car it's stock, but pulling cats from an OBDI car DOES make a big difference....
