emissions in your state?
emissions in your state? Well I'm from Illinois and sadly we have emissions here. How do you guys/girls get by with off road parts? I mean I know some F/I set ups can stay emissions friendly...but I know alot probably can't. What do you do? Just when emissions come up use your nifty boost controller or what not and change the A:F and other settings till you get emissions passed?

I passed in Ohio with my cats on. They did change the test and now also test for NOX gases. If you fail though you just have to have receipts showing you paid at least $300 in emission related repairs and you get a waiver. So we have a loophole no matter how modded the car may be.

in Illinois, no more tail pipe sniffing starting Jan 1 04 for 96 and up cars.
You will need to pass the obd2 check. This means no codes and all obd2 system tests must be complete.
You won't get a second chance exhaust sniff anymore if you fail the obd2 check.
Codes are no biggy, but the system checks will be tougher to get around if you have removed any smog equipment or are using a aftermarket engine management system.

One of the reasons I moved from Pennsylvania!
Indiana and Kentucky are Smog **** free! (and there's no "state Inspection" in IN, either!)
Of course now that I have a OBDII car it's stock, but pulling cats from an OBDI car DOES make a big difference....
