Vortech w/aftercooler any good?
I have a chance to purchase a complete kit new for a good price, I could save a considerable amount of money if I go with the Vortech Kit. I want to know if any one is running this set up and how much HP/TQ and what kinda ET's are you posting. I am just talking about the standard kit they sell with the aftercooler. If you have other mods with your set up let me know what they are Cam, Heads,Headers ETC... Any information you could provide to help me make a decision would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

This kit produces 9# of boost and is good for a 140-150hp increase. A car running in the mid 13s should drop down into the low 12s with this and good traction.
Hope this helps,
Tom

See my signature. That dyno result was with the Spectacle Solutions lid. Without the lid, it put down 446 RWHP. This is with a "stock" SLP exhaust from which the muffler was removed and replaced with straight pipe. So, no muffler on the SLP dual-dual, but it does still have cats.
No timeslips since the car is not set up to run at the track, but the power numbers and feel of the car indicate mid to high 11's in the quarter.

Thanks Tom I've read about what they should do as far as the increase , but I was wondering if anyone could back it up with some figues such as TWS. I have been told several times that they are not performing as they should in some cases.
TWS which do you like better overall the 01/VG9 or the 02/ATI? I am talking about fit and function. Would you recomend the ATI over the Vortech even if I am getting a really good deal? Thanks

I love both of them. Both have made stock internal LS1 cars pretty damn fast and powerful (by my standards anyway).
The ATI setup is more thermally efficient. Intake charge is "much" cooler than that of the Vortech. However, the Vortech is not far behind in output. The '01 SS with Vortech V9G dynoed 463/432 with 9# and the '02 Z28 with the ATI D-1SC dynoed 479/450 at only 8#. However, my SS needed the Spectacle Solutions lid to hit those numbers, and the ATI in the '02 put down it's numbers on California crap 91 Octane. I am hoping to do a total PCM retune, remove the Spintech, and hit 500 RWHP. I think I'd have a good shot at a 10.99 ET.
If cost is not an option, and absolute last bit of power is what you crave... I'd go the ATI D-1SC route. If you are getting a great deal on a Vortech, you may get close to the power of the ATI while saving some money. Plus, the Vortech is definitely more "bling bling" than the ATI. The head unit, ducting, and aftercooler all sit up top. Many people gasp when I lift the hood.

I have that set up on my car running 8lbs of boost on stock bore bottom end but all forged interanls stage 2 heads,cam,6speed mcleod clutch, filters 30lb injectors and dyno tuned went 540 with no exh. and 510 with exh rwhp a almost 500lbs of torque and I went 11.74 on bfg drag radials with a 1.93 60ft at 125mph. I think with a set of slicks I will hit 10s. I have a 2000 trans am.

yep 30lbs injectors thats what MTI put in it. I have a set of 42lbs that I am putting in as we speak. It did lean out abit at around 5800 rpm but perfect tune until then. I hope the 42lbs will take care of that.
