so you cant fine tune every point throughout boost
with the 2bar you can map out every single point and it provides a much more accurate tune
a map sensor is only like 40 bucks so to me it is well worth it but i guess you do need a custom operating system also which if you are paying a tuner anyway it shouldnt be an issue

running speed density with a 1 bar seems like a recipe for disaster for sure, im assuming you just worked the last row of VE till your afr came in line?
There are a fair amount of blower cars running mass air with a 1 bar and just using the MAF for boost tuning , Ive dont a few procharger cars like this, but only 6 pound kits and i wouldnt do this with a turbo, only running 5-6 psi prolly wont last long either if your like the rest of us.
In my opinion its best to just do it right and go 2 bar sd straight off, the sensor you need is off a cobalt ss if i remeber right, its pretty to find the p/n on here

i know that a 98 cant run 3-bar but i believe it was 98-00 that cant, but im also not sure if you can use it but your table will still only read 2-bar or if the sensor wont work right alltogether(good question)but i dont think it will report right unless you ecm is capable of 3-bar
its crazy how you forget little things like that when you dont ever think of them, one of these guys that deal with it everyday will surely chime in here soon

I dont mean to jack your thread but i have a fast 3 bar map can i use it on a 97 corvette? How much boost can you run with a 2 bar map, i want to run about 18psi through a turbo? I have a newer ecu but it has to be pinned what a pita, I hope i dont have to do that.

i have a digup question on this, i recently got a GM 2 bar MAP sensor and was wondering if i can run the car without tuning the car for the 2 bar map, until i get it tuned of course? i have a 98 TA with stock PCM, tuned by frost already for current mods.
