Default magnacharger squealing issue

I recently installed a mp112 blower on my 2000TA. I bought it off a friend of mine who had it on his camaro. The blower has maybe 5500 miles on it. I just had the vehicle tuned and i'm getting a squealing sound after its been running for a while. It only does it when its either idling or when i am maintaing a constant speed. Once i roll into it or put a load on it then it stops. Its coming from the rear of the blower, either from the belt or the pulley. The squealing doesn't go away when i spray brake clean on the rear belt or pulley either. I'm wondering if there is an adjustment on the pulley to put more tension on it? The blower has never done this previously, i know because i've driven in the car that it used to be on. Has anyone had this issue before? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is an adjustment; 2 locking bolts and an adjusting set screw. Loosen the 2 bolts and tighten the adjusting screw to make the belt tighter. After the belt adjustment and the bolts have been re-tightened, back the set screw off; it puts a strain on the bearings if left tight. You should have changed the belt before you installed the blower. It's going to be hard to do now.

Thanks, i'll have to try that. Yeah its weird, it only does it after it gets warm. I talked to LM Speed today and explained the issue. They said it could even be a vaccum leak, so I checked, but it didn't seem to have one. When I have the car up on the rack, the squealing seems to be coming more from the passenger side and it almost sounds like its traveling through the bellhousing.

wow, how much boost are you making? you should swap that cam out for a blower cam, your losing boost when your in and ex valves are open at the same time.

nice numbers though. if I make that much power with my setup ill be VERY happy.

im running stock heads, gt2-3 cam, LT's, ORY, loudmouth exhaust, radix maggie with a 2.9 pulley, 60# inj, 90mm jtube, 9" w/4.11's, and a t56

It makes 6.5lbs. I've been thinking about maybe switching cams and putting a smaller pulley on the blower. Nice set up you got by the way

it might be from the belt slipping, you are making a good amount of boost on that maggie, do you have a crank pinning kit?

Yes the crank pins come with the maggie kit. Was hoping to hear from the guy that started this thread. The problem he described is EXACTLY what mine is doing.

Had similar noise on my MP122. Thought it was coming from the rear. I took front drive belt off and spun all of the pulleys. It turned out to be an idler pulley. The bearing in the idler was replacable. Knocked it out with the appropriate sized socket, took the bearing to my local NAPA, and they had it in stock. Under 5 bucks if memory serves. Hope yours is that simple and cheap

I had the same squeal issue. Mine was due to not having the correct PCV valve in the car. I replaced every pulley on it and tightened all the belts and no go. I replaced the PCV valve and was good to go.

My squealing noise was do to too much vaccum building in the crank case. All I did was install a vent in place of my oil cap. I also blocked off the front vaccum lines going from the valve covers to my throttle body. I haven't had any problems yet, it runs like a champ
