Turbo noise?
Turbo noise? I have a tc76 BB turbo and it is making a weird noise. It has about 10k miles on it and it is out of warrenty. The turbo is on a STS kit with a 1.15ar exhaust housing and seems to boost fine and makes great power. At idle the turbo doesn't free spin anymore and it makes a squealing noise when it comes to a stop. It's been doing this for a little while but the performance of the turbo hasn't changed other than the noise when it comes to a stop. How bad is this? How much is a rebuild on a BB unit if it needs it? Thanks
yeah definitely sounds like a bunch of slack in the center section caused by worn bearings allowing the turbine to contact the housing .. ...worst part about it is if its been going on for a while its probally worn the impeller and turbine..but if you keep spoolin it up it will get so much clearance from that it wont make boost.
