wire harness that goes across the radiator

wire harness that goes across the radiator i needed to extend that harness and i just cut it up thinking that the wires would be all color coated. but when i actually got around to extending the wires i noticed that some of them a colored exactly the same and they are the same gauge. i noticed the 4 brown wires on the drivers side soldered together (from the factory) going in to 2 brown wire of the same gauge and those two go across on to the passenger side.
so my question is would it matter if i mix the wires up that are the same color ?
as i mentioned before all those brown wires where all the same and they where all joined together from the factory so the other ones should be too ?
also what are all those wires for in that harness ?
i will try to get some pics later so i can explain my situation a little better
