Default Heads

Hello to all, this is my first post here. Looking for some suggestions on what type of heads to run on a ARE 422 iron block/ATI F1R setup. I have been told by my local shop that the lq4 heads are the way to go on this setup because of the strength issue. This buildup will be to see how much hp you can really get out of an LS1, Im looking for 1000 to 1100 fwhp if that is possible. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think there is any strength gain with the 6.0L truck heads over a comparably ported LS6 head. You do gain a larger chamber which can reduce the piston dish needed for a lower more boost friendly CR. So maybe that's what they mean

But you can get large chamber LS6 heads from a number of sponsors to this board.

1000 crank shouldn't be to tough with the added cubes. I'm pushing over 900 at the crank and i'm only 348 cu in (last dyno was 820RWHP)

last dyno as in you got some more dyno time in Matt?

anyways id go with the lq4, since for one your using the Iron block (lq4) and they flow a little better compared to the 5.7 head plus the increased chamber size would be good.

nope, as in before we left for Thunder. Running out of fuel pump

I'm guessing the bore is open to 4.030 or more to get to 422 cu in, so what ever heads you end up with should have the chamber diameter opened up to match. Truck heads start at 4.000" so you're closer. LS1/6 heads are 3.9" so they will need more work.
