$3500 for an okay turbo set up?
Okay guys, here is what I was thinking...
a junk ebay turbo
ebay PTK knockoff
ebay intercooler
Get bigger injectors, and profesional dyno tune at A&A Corvette here in Cali for another $500.
I'm in at under $2K so far, and I have just under $4K ready.
Doable?
Alternative suggestions?

Oy... Okay, I've spent the last couple of hours doing my homework on site here. I came back to this post to delete it because now I know how retarded I am.
Because there are already responses though, I'll let it ride for entertainment value of the people on site who know what they're doing.
Guess the sticky knows what it's talking about. $10K for a good 4th gen blow job. Just man up and face it. Oh well... back to the TR cheater AFR kit I was looking at. Looks like the best (legal) bang for the buck again.

You can source out and complete a turbo kit for what you're thinking of spending. I know I have. BUT it will require buying secondhand on hot side. You may get lucky and buy most of the kit for about 2-2.5k. Just get a MP turbo if you want budget(that's lowest you'd want to go anyway) Cold side piping can be had via ebay. Ebay IC works as well. But some things like the turbo you'll want some quality behind it.

Yup...mp70's I've seen go for 400 brand new on this site. But if done with tons of research n planning it can b done for what u have. But go a small slap in the face, I started out spending 2500 on a basic kit and now the cars almost done and my wallet is about 10k or more broker...but my motor took a **** so I had to get it rebuilt/forged.

What i have learned from my turbo build, NEVER NEVER go cheap! it will bite you in the *** in the long run!! For a turbo build your looking at quite a bit of money. I have over 15k in mine and going to put in another 20k for next season! Its the little things that get ya.

I think there is aps twin kit for sale used ,not sure on price..Big Bird is selling his?
The turbos can be iffy but the rest of the kit is pretty nice. intercooler, piping, gates, etc.
Then you can upgrade to some kando centers if the aps give you problems ,the kandos are like 400 each on ebay. Seem to be holding up ok. I am actually still running stock aps turbos and so far they are still working ok .
So if you got the aps kit for maybe 3500 and added 1000 for the kando centers you would be at 4500. Keep in mind you need to upgrade fuel system ,pump, injectors for sure and its nice to have adjustable reg and if you go much higher on power then dual pumps, bigger lines, rails as well. You need tuning like hptuners or take car for tuning. You need some guages like wideband. You will need to strengthen things like clutch or auto trans, rear end, engine if you want to run much higher than base boost levels.
I have about 40k into my build above price of the car.And if you pay top dollar for labor it could go even higher.
But there are tips and tricks to cut the costs down. For engine you can go stock crank 346 or ls2 or lq9/lq4 with just forged pistons but forged rods are nice as well.
You can go turbo 350 or turbo 400 or stock 4l80 if you aren't going to go crazy high on power.
You can get by for awhile on stock rearend if you don't run sticky tires.
You can get buy with a lot less for fuel if you stick around 500rwhp or so.Just single pump and some 60 pounders.
Or as said you can do a single kit with truck manifolds and some ebay intercooler and piping or fab up cold side its not that hard. And master power do seem good for the money. I would stick to non knock off gates for sure or internal gates.
I would stick to non knock off blow off valves.
And depending on kit and what you fab you might be giving up things like air, moving other things around engine compartment .
Also used sts might be a good buy especially newer sts kits they have done a lot of improvements in the new sts kits.
