Default Custom STS build questions?

Im going to be installing a used sts kit on my 2001 m6 01 z28 and will be set for 5psi (for now) through a front mount intercooler, However Ive read of few things to look out for when installing a sts kit so Im goin to be doing a few things custom therefore I have a few questions.

1. I will not be running the sts pcv system, instead will be runing a catch-can setup, however what do I do with the wires from the wiring harness that run to the sts pcv valve?

2. What plugs should I run and what gap?

3. Do I need injectors for 5 psi also have a MSD boost-a-pump will I need that also?

4. Whats the best heat wrap to use for my exhaust?

5. Will I be ok at the track wit 4.10 gears and M6 traction not a problem just worried Ill have to go into 5th I currently trap at 110 at 5900 rpm.

6. Will have it dyno tuned wondering if i need a speed density tune or regular MAF tune would be ok for 5psi?

Also any other upgrades you guys can think of let me know I want to make it as safe of a kit as possible its my daily driver, thanks.

That thing is like a pressure switch that opens when it sees 1psi of pressure, its the power/ground wire which ever you use, for the hobbs switch

2. What plugs should I run and what gap?

I run a Tr6 at like .037, just me though, when i go up in boost i will go to a br7ef, again, lol

3. Do I need injectors for 5 psi also have a MSD boost-a-pump will I need that also?

use the boost a pump if your not going to get a walbro, but i would suggest a walbro. Ive heard mixed feeling about a BAP on a stock pump, and injectors, For ONLY 5psi, 42lbs will be fine, but why buy them twice if you plan to go bigger before long, Boost is addicting, and youll want more, Id suggest 60lbers.

4. Whats the best heat wrap to use for my exhaust?

Just go to local auto parts and grab a couple rolls off the wall, and get some metal straps for it was well, or hose clamps work great too.

5. Will I be ok at the track wit 4.10 gears and M6 traction not a problem just worried Ill have to go into 5th I currently trap at 110 at 5900 rpm.

I wouldnt recomend 4.10 on a turbo car.

6. Will have it dyno tuned wondering if i need a speed density tune or regular MAF tune would be ok for 5psi?

maf will be fine, alot of people will say different things, hell im SD, but this question will start a war, lol. AND yes, a proper tune is important, whether street or road, but i dont suggest and unloaded dyno.

Also any other upgrades you guys can think of let me know I want to make it as safe of a kit as possible its my daily driver, thanks.
Run good gas, and use a good reputable tuner. This is not something to go cheap on. I would not use anything except good Tbolt clamps, and there is a difference between crap clamps and good ones, I got the crap ones, and am constantly replacing them with better pieces.

Have fun, and make sure you cross your Ts and dot your i's. youll love the turbo.

lol, im using the sts hobbs switch for my second fuel pump. lol. I got it from a friend with an STS kit.

The short story is, NO. only a select few have had any luck with the sts pcv "solution".

I dont like it. Its best to use a can can/ breather setup. IMHO. if you do a search on here for PCV solution, there are tons of threads discussing this topic and loads of useful information.

EDIT: you will more then likley wanna ditch them longtube headers aswell, they will kill your spool time

The STS PCV crap blew oil all over my engine bay when it failed. Just use a catch can.

i don't believe a Cam has a bearing on rear end gears. with 4.10's, the motor will rap through the rpm's to fast and from what i've been told you'll be shifting more before hitting max boost

I just figured with the extra rpms from a cam and a taller tire I could get away with the 4.10s, but Im stuck with those for now until I can get new ones. What kind of catch can should I get a sealed one or one with a breather?

I run my PCV system to atmospher, you can put a catch can on it if your engine has a little blow by. I just vent mine threw filters. Works just fine.

I built my rear mount kit. PM me if you need some help. I will tell you I am going to dump the rear mount stuff and move my turbo up front. What size turbo do you have with that kit?

You will like the performance with the 60 on it. It will be allot of fun to drive. The headers might make it laggy, expetially with the stick, I would advise to put the stock manifolds back on, and the gear is pretty tall, it will hurt the lag some too. You can always mess with the gears latter once you have it going.

Forgive me for asking this but is that Strange S60 a complete aftermarket rear end or just a carrier? I am not familier with it. I would go with 3.42's with that turbo, the 3.73 or 4.10 will be harder to "load" the turbo. I expect it will have more lag time then with the 3.42's. I am running 3.70's in my Moser 9" but I use a Transbrake to lock the trans and load the turbo up.
