Default Question about tunning on turbo

Im planning on building a turbo kit for my car this winter. Does everyone do a speed density tune with turbo? From all the pics I dont see anyone running a maf.

Most do as that is the most accurate way to do so, but some lower hp cars are still utilizing the maf. Some people are still tuning a maxxed out maf through the PE table.

that is fine with me that makes it easier not haveing to figure out where to stick a maf. Do I have to use different map or bap sensors?

Yeah depending on what vehicle you have you will have to decide to go 2/3 bar operating system. 2 bar will correctly tune 15 psi of boost and 3 bar will be 30 psi. There is a thread in the stickies in this section with all the different part numbers and lots of information.

VE tuning is easier on some computers than others. This is one of the reasons that many of the newer vettes, cts, G8, etc stick with the MAF method. I haven't kept up to speed much on MAFs but IIRC, there are some aftermarket MAF options now that are real viable alternatives to VE tuning with a MAP sensor vs RPM.

Yes, you will need a different MAP sensor in order to read boost. Depending on how much boost you intend to run will determine which MAP sensor you need.

the maf just runs out of air. after 8psi on a stock engine you just about have to go sd. there are a few tricks around it to pull a bit more our of the maf, but the sd tune with be a bit more responsive if done right.
