Default Cometic vs GM MLS

Which head gaskets are you guys running? I will be running a D1SC(8psi) with GT2-3 cam on the stock bottom end(around 500rwhp)? Are the cometics worth the extra $$ over the GM MLS? I will also be using ARP head studs.

Standard GM MLS gaskets are 5 layer. You can also go with LS9 head gaskets if your using 317 heads, their 7 layer. I've ran the standard GM gaskets the whole time I've had my car and not a single problem yet.

3rd vote for the GM MLS gaskets. The Cometic are very hit a miss. You either swear by them or swear at them. Not much middle ground from what I have heard. I just put a set of Cometic’s on my buddies NA setup. This is the first set of Cometic's I have ever used so I guess I will see which swearing group I end up in. LOL

I second that, special thickness is the only reason we used cometic on my buddies build.

I have been using GM MLS gaskets since '03 and they are holding up well. I only push around 8-9 psi though.
