Default 383 good for boost?

I am at a point that I have an option stroke my ls1. Is there a reason why not many people (it seems) do this? Any advise is welcome. I am building this with intentions of 12-14 of boost.

Mostly they don't do it because of cost, I have a 383 with Callies compstar rods and crank.

What mike13 said. For the cost to build a 383, you could build a 408. As the saying goes there is no replacement for displacement.

Trent built a 383 stroker for a guy named Shane with a c5 Z06, saw 13+ psi, car pulled hard as **** and had great torque. 408 is nice but its an extra 80lbs that isnt worth it on the nose. I say just stroke it to 383 and boost her up.

I am thinking of doing the same. 383 stroked with either turbo or procharger.... have made up my mind just yet.
