Default Stock short block LQ4 limits?

How much power is the stock rotating assembly good for in a boosted application before upgraded pistons/rods are needed?

If you search for "lq4" there are a bunch of threads dealing with this topic, you are going to get replies in the range of 600 - to a guy making/made 825whp with the addition of valve springs and arp 2000 rod bolts.

i will be finding out myself before long, as i have done arp 2000 rod bolts and arp head bolts with ls9 head gaskets on my 2004 43k mile lq4.

like said above, Thee is people that will tell you 8 is safe and never to go above 10, like my tuner. Then theres guys running much more boost. Its really not about how much boost it can take, but how long it will last at the boost you have selected.

The 825rwhp one was on an lq9 which has better rods iirc.

Setup right the lq4 is good enough to run 9's in a heavy fbody.

Thanks for your input guys. I'm looking for HP numbers, not track times as this engine isn't going in a heavy Fbody I'm also not looking for exact numbers of failure points, just proven numbers #s from running cars. Looking to hit 500-600hp with a Procharger, and still be somewhat reliable.

Stock pistons are crap in the ls1 and pretty sure the lq4 or lq9. Change out pistons, Would personally do rods and pistons with good rod bolts too ,the stock cranks are plenty strong from what have read on here. Also good idea to have compression around 9 to maybe 9.5 to one. Unless you are going to run e85.And on bone stock hypercrap pistons getting greedy with boost/timing,afr will usually cause rapid failure of the ringlands when you get detonation.
