Default Magnuson 2300 sucks...

...Literally

We had been having problems with the belt slapping from the tensioner down to the crank pulley on BMillers 408 2300 GTO, so I came up and made a dual tensioner setup with an additional idler on another Katech tensioner. We wanted to give the setup a little beating and were free reving the car. These were the results...we found it a tad intertaining it sucked that much air free reving the car.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVD2i_zTIPo

And here is the tensioner setup I came up with.

Yeah, we found a little humor in it at 12:30 this morning...We have 6 cars to get ready for a IRS race this weekend and this was one of them. Long hours for us this week. There was still a tightned T Bolt clamp on the TB side of the coupler. Bob got a little excited when he saw it happen too...haha.

Kinda the way we felt too. We ended up spinning the blower to almost max rpm and it ended up sucking the TB blade shut about 6200 rpm. The electric motor in the TB just couldnt handle it.

That is awesome in a way but at the same time not so much lol. Did magnuson not encounter this problem when they were designing it?

Same thing happened to my friend with a D1SC. He took the air filter off but left the rubber coupler attached to the head unit. Needless to say this shredded the end of the coupler and bent the fins. Car still ran hard with bent fins

Well all testing that I have seen has had a cable style TB on it, not electric. Im pretty sure it is one of the highest power producing 2300's right now. It made right at 800 RWHP on E85.

They do not want you to use it with a blower. Problem being is that the belt will stretch under WOT and in turn throw the belt with the fixed tensioner. With this setup, we are running two of them and taking the stretch completely out of the belt.

Reason for making this setup is we have not found a spring tensioner that will hold 16 pounds of boost on an overdriven setup without slip.

We have proven time and time again with this setup if done properly that it will hold boost.
