Default ls1 vs 5.3 vs 6.0

I have a stock bottom end ls1 short block that is going into a 84 buick regal. Now I know you can only run so many psi on a stock bottom end, but down the road I am going with a all forged set up to run 20+ psi. I just want to know all your thoughts, is it even worth it to start out with my aluminum block? or get a 5.3 or 6.0.

Id go with a 5.3 because they are so cheap and deal with high boost very well. An alum block LS1 is pretty stout too but more of an investment so if you kill it in the mean time you're out more than with a $200-500 JY 5.3

If you set up a turbo setup to efficiently run 20+ psi your going to want an iron block. What are the power goals?

power goals are going to be whatever the stock bottom end is going to hold up, and when that goes i will build a forged bottom end. thats why i was wondering if it would be worth the effort to build the aluminum block. I read allot of people like the 370 CI combo, and thats what i am leaning to.

What are the future power goals on the forged block? Thats what matters, not how much boost. You can have 15 psi on one setup make 500rwhp and 15psi on another make 1000rwhp. Boost is a relative term. Id do the iron block or some sort. Almost always makes more sense to bigger cubes.

on the forged set up i need to make 800+ rwhp. im thinking the 5.3 is what i will end up going with, and do the arp rod bolts, head studs, and the 317 heads.

The arp rod bolts are not really required at this lvl unless the engine will see above 6k rpm all the time. I've ran w/o rod bolts upgrades in stock bottom end la engines before 10+ psi
