Default Need help with what t6 turbo for 346?

Okay so I want to go t6 over the winter sticking with the forged ls1. This way when funds clear up I can put a bigger engine and even bigger turbo.

I'm going to move up the radiator even more and go 2 pusher fans so I will have a good amount of room. I am also thinking of changing out the 370, gear for a 323 do to the added hp and mph. Using a built 4l65.

So what would be a good t6 turbo that I can use a four inch dp that won't have crazy lag on a 346? I made 675whp on a tc78, my goal here would be running less boost, less back pressure and more power. Mainly more power.

You are talking to completely different price brackets there. The BW is in the sub $1K range and the PT is in the $2K range if I'm not mistaken.

Any T6 framed turbo is going to be far more laggy than your TC on a 346. What's your end HP goal? You're going to need to ditch the 4L65 as well.

Ya I did notice the price differance. Id be leaning more towards the 1k range. My goals at this time would be about 750whp. But id like to have room to go in the future, thats why I want to go t6 now while the car is apart during the winter. Long story short im getting a great deal on all the custom fab work to make it all fit and work so I need to get it done now.

If i wasnt getting this I would leave my current setup alone as its been great. But I did want to do this in the future and I have this opportunity now.

Im not worried about the lag at the track as im launching off the t-brake. On the street through the 3600 stall I dont think it would be too bad with a t6 as long as I dont go really big.

I know about the trans, Im thinking even if the car is able to make more than 750whp ill just keep the boost lower to save the trans untill i can go th400 or 4l80.

I have a really nice level 7 4l65e from finish line and its been the most relieble part of the car aside from the 9inch so far.

I think the garret gt88-91 is in the $1000- $1500 range. Should be plenty of turbo for that 346. Just get the smallest possible exhaust housing (1.08?)

My 8:1 GT47-88 combo was very laggy, anyone have different experience? Alex when we roll raced a bit on the highway that one time I had to downshift to 2nd (TH400) since I didn't get into boost for a while stabbing it from a 60 mph roll in 3rd. But it did go 10.008@139mph @ 16 psi on pump so that was interesting.

Call Forcedinductions, order a S400 series turbo with the cast 82mm wheel and 87-92 turbine wheel. Will be a great turbo for the price and that comp wheel flows 127 lbs/min which will support about 1300 flywheel hp. If you want more top end go with the bigger turbine and if you want a quicker spool stick with the smaller turbine.

Ok i have a 347 with a GT42 74mm and it spools great it will be at 10 psi as soon as i can floor it.. i ran a S88 for some testing on the engine dyno and it worked great but on the street was too much to tune with my blow thru setup so switched to the GT42.. with the gt42 i made 707rwhp and 697rwtq but only spun the motor to 6K due to carb issues with power valves. i would say a BW S80 would be a nice turbo to push a 347 and still have good spool.

i would go PT88 T4 over all of the above for a street car myself. Or a S80, S91 in T6 but both would be pretty laggy on a 346, unless your on the brake
