I am very interested in this kit. I have had plans to get this done, but was waiting till I got back from Iraq myself before I really stepped into it. I sold my procharger before I left, was going to do a TC78 but it didn't work out. I have a forged short block and a built transmission looking for an F/I setup. Cannot wait to see what the price is going to look like. I have a few friends that wanted to build this kit, but if you are almost done with it I may have to go this route instead.
Good luck with the build would love to see some pics and progress too.
BTW just for fun while I was rebuilding my motor I weighed the AWD system on my truck in pieces on a bathroom scale lol, but I found the parts totalled around 140-160 lbs with fluids. This was my break down:
Front shafts weigh about 12 lbs each (x2)
Center Shaft through oil pan 3 lbs
Differential 40 lbs
Transfer Case 73 lbs
and the side mount around 5 lbs
just figured i would need more then that to have a low 11 sec pig..
i want the turbos to come in early to have the tq down lower...
. The only downside to the AWD, from what I can find, is the oil pan/starvation issue. The pans have a recess in them to allow room for the AWD components, it's a front feed setup so on hard launches the oil pickup gets starved and you can spin bearings. Moroso makes a replacement pan for the 2WD trucks (the AWD can't do much, you need the recess for the AWD components to fit) that helps. Just something to consider.
Spooling turbos on something this heavy shouldn't be too challenging. Twin billet 6262's would probably be plenty sufficient, even in journal bearing form.
BTW trust i would want a white one! i dont think im due back til Nov 2012... so if you could just do all these mods for me and have it ready... that would be awesome! thanks
