Default Oil Pump for turbo build

I am putting together a 370" iron block, stock crank, callies compstar rods, LS9 camshaft, PRC stage 2.5 ported LQ9 heads, Edelbrock pro-flo intake, 90mm TB and a single turbo (yet to be decided)...

Which oil pump?

I am thinking of going with the Melling oil pump 10296 (high volume with option of adding the high oil pressure spring)...

Any thoughts?

If I do go with this pump will it fit a dual roller timing chain?

Does this pump need to be ported?

Thanks

I have a 10296 in my 390. I haven't fired it yet. There are some good threads on this board with info from Jason at LPE. They have done a lot of research with oil pump flow and pressure. I was recommended the 10296 but told to swap out the high pressure spring for the stock pressure spring. The stock relief spring allows the pump to start bypassing oil back to the pan sooner which would hopefully prevent sucking the pan dry. It flows ~18% over an LS6 pump. Mine had instructions for installing spacers for a double row timing chain and you would probably have to grind the front cover to make it fit. I went with a nice Cloyes single row chain on this motor. My stock LS1 had a Rollermaster double and a ported LS6 pump. The double chain seems like overkill to me.

i have a melling with just the high pressure spring flows 10% over stock. I was told that would be good for a lot of power like 800 -900hp no problem. I heard the high volumes can suck the pan dry if you dont have a larger pan. i would stick with just the high pressure, 70psi at wot 40-50 psi at idle

I ended up picking up an SLP high pressure oil pump...
sounds like it is just a ported melling high pressure pump that can be used with a dual roller timing chain..

Depends on your bearing clearance. Stock 6.0L truck pump gets me 40psi hot at idle, and 70+psi @WOT with 5w-30 mobil 1.
