Default set up questions

hey guys I plan on running a boosted stock bottom end 6.0l. It s out of a 04. I m running a rearmount s400 with a front mount ic and an ls2 cam. The bottom end with be studded both the mains and the rods. my idea was to use ls9 head gaskets, arp studs and ls6 springs. this my first boosted ls motor but i have had boosted motors before so i didnt want to go over board until i got some experience. My goal after all is said and done to be at about 600 rwhp at 14-16 psi i m guessing. will the those gaskets and springs cut it or do i need the pac ones good for .600 lift and better gaskets. car is an m6 btw and will be staying that way. thanks guys for the help. I also have an upgraded sts oil pump for the turbo are they any good?

i was running twin pumps with E85 and 83lb injectors and didnt have issues fuel wise, the ls9 gaskets should be fine. when it ran at 14lbs anyway, my logs indicated duty cycles in the low 80s.

Why are you looking at the ls2 cam? just use the stocker or a z06 cam. (can be had cheap)

I never paid much attention to ls2 motors, but im pretty sure their cam sensor is on the front cover.

I got a really good deal on the cam so i figured it would be better then the stock one. Everyone wants way to much for their ls6 cam and i couldnt pass this one up. Are your 83lbers low impedence or are they still normal ones. right now i have 42 but i know i ll have to upgrade. I just want to get it all togather and running before i go spending more money. how much power were you making a 14 psi. 650 ish im guessin?

Sounds like you got a pretty good idea. The cam will work fine. There are better choices but for the power you're looking for you'll be fine. You didn't mention what heads your going to be running. If you're going to be running 317s you may want to try to get hold of something that will bump up the compression a bit, since you're going E85. You could use the LS6 springs but for the small price penalty, I'd run Patriots or the PACs.

If you up the compression a bit you should make well over 600rwhp through your M6 at those boost levels.

I think you'd be better off spending some more coin on springs. You want a bit more pressure on the seat when talking about 14-16psi.

I ran an S400 with my 6.0L/M6 and blew a piston with ~15psi.

I would love to get more compression out of it but i just want to see it run before i get 7-8 grand in it. right now i m at about 2200 so i m doing good lol. I talked to speed inc to today and they recommended the pac s i do have pat golds laying around on a set of heads but i m going to leave them for now. they also said the ls9 gaskets would be good especally with arp head studs. do you guys have any opinions on sts pump or the walbro 340 pump. really got my eye set on that one. thanks for the help
