those look like whats available off-the-shelf...why bother building one?

you can find those style A2w used all the time at very low prices.

What are you doing with your old one? And what are the size specs on it?

looks badass, did you use the sheetmetal tools? it looks like it in the last pic.

i have been trying to find any kind of 3d cad model of the ls engine, to no avail. only lead i have found so far is i guess if you are a member of SEMA then you can get a copy. Jim Schwartz from schwartz performance has it, he shows it in one of his youtube videos.

Snyper. Provided the old one gets reeplaced ill be selling it eventually. Its a cast end tank pt-900
Josh, I have an e-derawing of an Ls1 set up for C5.
Billy, yea first I made the solid (yellow) to determine the shape quickly then I made the sheet metal parts to match it. I flatten those and send straight to the laser here at work.

if u are used to tigging aluminum, you can build one, biggest part is having leak free welds, and put some support straps on that thing to keep it from turning into a bomb. remember PSI=pressure per square inch. an intercooler the size ur lookin could have over 100 square inches, at 20 psi, thts 2k lbs of force on that thing. thats why they make blankets for em just like trannys, they turn into shrapnel lol

some potentially interesting flow simulations images

first one is more curved end tank, second is a straight diagonal and third is the same as the first but with a divider that forces half of the flow to the front half of the intercooler

With such a tiny core and generally a small unit, internal ducting is essential.

What dimensions are you going for? Those look very similar to the one I'm running. Rated at 1600hp.

Mine is 19" total width which would put the tube centers at around 16". Had this one made by Marty at IRC fabrications.
