Default Time for change...Max effort iron 346...

Decided it is time to learn something new and join the 21st century...

Having built small and big blocks for N20 and blown alcohol applications I decided it was time for something new.

I have been wanting to build a turbo engine for over 20 yrs. just never seemed to get around to doing it...The technology now makes it a lot simpler than when I first was looking at doing it with mech. fuel inj.

I love my big blocks but have found I have been swept away by my new sqeeze...The Gen 3...She's just so damn sexy...

So...This will be my fist gen 3 as well as turbo engine and having learned along time ago to ask lots of questions and learn from those who have been there done that...Expect me to bend everybodys ear now and then...

OK...On to the important stuff...

Got a 2900-3000# ride I that want to run around 8.5's. or so...Has to be streetable. I am looking for 900 - 1000hp at the wheels..

Will run a th400 and 9" rear.

What I have is a 4.8 that will be bored out for forged ls1 blower pistons, H beam rods and a aftermarket forged crank.

Now to the questions...

I have used part filled blocks with great success in my blown applications...Seemed to stiffen the lower end and stabilized the cylinders.
Anybody doing that with the gen 3 blocks...?

How about pinning the main caps?

How about o ringing the block...Use to do that with my BB that saw over 25# boost.

What's the most boost you can run with a iron block and thick deck heads before you starting lifting them and pushing coolant...?

Parts I need... But remember I am on a budget so I am looking for the best bang for my buck...

What heads would be best...cost, deck thickness, flow etc.

Cam...?

What size turbo..? I will be using truck manifolds.

Intake and fuel injection computer... (this is a area that is going to have a steep learning curve as I have very little experience with elec. fuel inj etc. but I am looking forward to learning something new...)

This should be enough for me to start formulating a build plan...

And yes...I have used the search but were I live the net is really slow so it becomes very fusturating waiting all the time...

Expect lots more questions...

Thanks for helping...

Can't answer alot of your questions but if I were you I would save time and money and just go with a AES 327 forged boost shortblock. They are sponsors on here and they have really good deals. They also have 370 and 390's. Check them out.
