Intercooler opinion
Hey guys, Im looking at buying a intercooler for my 5.3 build in my 85 regal. I found a couple that have the input and output pipes pointing downward.
The dimensions are...
29"x12"x5",5"
Core:22"x10"x5",
3" One-sided Inlet & Outlet
5" Core
Core Size: 18"X12"X4"
Overall Size: 25"x16"x4"
3" once sided Inlet and Outlet
4" Core
which one would better support my 550whp or more goal?
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks

Either one should be plenty at 500hp. I would pick the one that fits the spot the best.
That being said the 5" core is about 30% bigger by volume than the other and probably has more volume in the location between the in/outlets which is where most of the air flows anyways.

The 5" core restricts the airflow more than a thinner core, and can lead to overheating issues if you have it in front of your radiator.
Also, what is this 'one-sided Inlet & Outlet'? Does that mean they are both on the same side of the IC?
Here's a link to my site - I have a G-body Malibu, so you can see how I placed a high-flow (2048cfm) IC, painted black in my pictures:

You should consider sizing your IC larger than you think you need now, then when you decide to turn up the boost (we all do!) you will be prepared.
