Sorry to bump this old thread, no point in making a new one. Here's my question....
Should I have a problem reaching 600hp with a D-1SC (400 N/A now) and keep the motor in one piece! Then again, something is telling me to just get the F series and run lower boost with it. If/when something happens to the motor, I've already got the bigger blower and I'm ready for more boost/forged motor.
Can't believe it's taken me this long to finish this thing up : (

keep the boost around 7-8lbs. run some methanol or e85 or high octane of some sort. make sure the steam ports are all hooked up. keep an eye on IAT's. no problem reaching that hp level. id stick around 550 or no more than 600 and enjoy it as long as I could while saving for the forged motor. save the f series for later. or just do like I did...and go ***** to the wall. and spend a while without the car. id just drive it around for a while at least.
methanol ----alkycontrol or aquamist
steam ports.......nitrous outlet or kurt urban
with a 7.65 pulley youll prob need about a 4.2x blower pulley.
best of luck to you. its really all about the tune.

Changed my mind again! Decided to just go with the F1A and never worry about upgrading the blower. It's only 500 to upgrade from the start. I'll run a 5.25 pulley and try to keep it in one piece.
Calling Bob tomorrow to get more info/opinions and hopefully order everything.

Finally! F1A kit with front mount/race valve has been ordered.
Ready for 600hp (to be safe)!

Motor is still running strong, but the built 4l60e is shredded to pieces! First pass of the night last Thursday. Still have no idea what it will run!
Debating the 4l80e or TH400. I'd probably hate the 400 on the street: (

Back in the late 70's my '77 T/A ran 3600 rpm with 4.10 gears in the 12 bolt/turbo 400 at 60 mph. I'd go with a 4L80E if you can afford to do so. Bob

Bob, how much more boost will the F1A make by dropping from 5.25 pulley and run 5 or 4.75? I'm making about 11 # now. This would be pending bigger injectors/more fuel pump and a retune.

That's hard to say Mike, as so many factors come into play. I'd say two to four more pounds of boost. Bob
