Default Anyone use a restrictor plate?

My stock LS1 has 145K miles on it and I'm trying to prolong it's life as a street car while still having fun with it. I'm currently having my S-trim blower re-built and upgraded to an Si-trim setup so i have a few weeks to kill with research.

I've heard that installing a restrictor plate upstream of the blower is a good way to allow centri blowers to make higher boost at lower RPMs while limiting boost near the top end to protect weaker parts of the motor.

When last I drove, I was getting about 6psi max with a 30-tooth pulley. I get about 2 PSI at 2500 rpm. I'm thinking I'll get about 8psi from the Si trim unit, hoping to get about 3-4psi at 2500 rpm. I'm not certain I want to subject my motor to that much stress at the top end so i'd like to limit total boost to about 6-7psi.

1) has anyone used a restrictor plate?
2) what size?
3) how well did it work for it's intended purpose?

Shouldn't your motor be fine at less than 10? Why not just build the motor?

Normally I'd say yes, but with my older motor I'd prefer not to take that chance. Ideally, I'd like to build a forged motor from an LS6/LS2 later on and sell my motor (still in running condition) to offset some of the cost.

my issue is with the C7 vette rumored to be released in 2012, the prices of the C6 will drop dramatically and i really want to dive into one of those. It depends on how long it takes to re-fill my "car piggy bank"

I don't have any results, tests, etc but have a friend with a vette and a novi 2000, the blower is alot more than what he needs for his stock motor so he runs a restrictor plate and does just what ur asking about....I believe it's from ECS but not positive

Sounds like I have some R&D ahead of me.
