Default Are these to big?

Are these to big to run on a 5.3L (2400lbs car), I will be running twins. I plan to run most of the time @ 8psi but would like to see a lot more when I turn up the wick.

No turbo is the wrong size for any engine.....all depends on your goal.

Default I am a newbee, dumb questions forthcoming

Thx powertrip for the reply.

Let me reword, I was planning a single MP70 and now thinking for my fitment twins might be the better route. The MP70 would have met my power goals, so the question, Since the MP would have been merged and these will run off each bank, will these be to big to spool up only using the half of the exhaust to spool up each turbo?

Also should they be sized equal AR or should they be sized for one to be a quick spool and the other coming on later in the RPM range?

no prob. Im no pro at sizing, but list what HP your looking for, and some specs, cam, converter, stock shortblock? heads? Someone can help you then. Your question was a bit to vague i think for anyone to give you any answer.

Here are the specs....

2005 5.3 L33 with 29K miles (stock block).
Stock 243 heads with upgraded 918 springs
Comp Cam XR269 (216/220 LSA 114)
New LS9 injectors (I believe 58lbs)
2002 LS6 exahaust manifolds
2003 LS6 intake.
Fast fuel rails
6 speed
2400lbs car

The question is....would you pick these turbos for my set up if on a limited budget? Car will be diven less than 5K per year, looking for a quick street car, very limited track.

My goal is 600-625 crank.

I have a cummins diesel, and Ive read that swapping out the HX35 with a HX40 will be a little slower to spool. This is on a 5.9 diesel. Now you want half of a 5.3 with half the compression to spool one? It dont tell you the A/R of the exh housing.
What about 2 HX35's Probably spool faster and you're not looking for a lot of power.
Im just kinda guessing here... surprised no one has any info on twin HX40s.

Might be worth askign on the the turbo vendors on here. Someone like DrTrubo will be able to help.

I would guess you would be looking for something similar to a Garrett GT30R sized turbo, asuming your going twins. Could poss get aways with a pair of GT35rs but you would need small exhaust housings to help with spool.

Chris.

Find a compressor map for that turbo and you can answer your own question, you can google just as easy as the rest of us.

FWIW My cts-V has twin Turbonetics GT-K 350's and makes 575 to the tire, spool is instant... Although they do run outside the peak efficiency island at upper RPM's.

I wouldn't buy china knock off turbo's, which the ebay link you posted appears to be.

What are you doing for the transmission for your GTM? I have always like the car, but the lack of a strong transmission option to hold 1000+ hp has held me away from pulling the trigger on one. I thought it would be fun to build one to run the standing mile, line it up against the ford GT's.

Not sure how to read the maps......I am a newbee to FI

Mendeola and Ricardo trans can be used in the GTM. 600hp for the Mendeola and up to 1500hp for the Richardo. There is a member running the "weak" G50-20 with a full bar, through a 408ci, (guessing 800+HP) holding just fine.

G50s have been used in Ultima GTRs for years now. there are people running twin turboed versions at over 1000bhp and not having issues.
