Default Oil for FI

What kind of oil do you guys with Turbo/ Supercharger use. I have heard that synthetic is a no no. What would be good to use if I decide to go turbo.

Synthetic is a yes yes with FI. It functions well at high temps (seen in FI engines/turbos) whereas dino does not. Most any name brand 10w-40 full synthetic will do the job on a mild build.

I used the 10$ a jug oil from Walmart last year. Never had any problems but I also changed my oil every 500 miles or so it seemed.

Use synthetic motor oil. They usually have a higher boiling temperature compared to conventional motor oil.

I'm using the same oil in 10w 30 now. I will be switching to their race oil 20w-50 as soon as the warmer weather comes.

I use Valvoline racing VV850 (10W30). Has tons of ZDDP. So much in fact that its not street legal since it would totally destroy catalytic converters.

Basically, ZDDP is a super lubricant thats far better than the rest of the ingredients in oil. Most oil has a tiny bit of it, but the government has mandated that oils can only have so much since it harms the catalytic converters and shortens the life of them. There is a ton of information about ZDDP out there, this is just the tip of the iceberg, but thats the gist of it.

Check out bobistheoilguy for great info on ZDDP. Bottom line is you want a LOT of it if you're not running cats.
