Default T4 Turbo inlet pipe size

Okay, I am starting to fab my hot side from stock manifolds to a T4 turbo flange. I would like to merge the 2 pipes before the turbo (for packaging reasons) and run a single pipe from the merge about 1 foot to the turbo flange, is it okay to do it this way?

Also, what size should the pipe be? Measuring the circumference of the t4 inlet hole would equal about a 2.5" od exhaust pipe, will 2.5 be sufficient?

Thanks for any help.

Will work awesome, use a nice merge from cone engineering.

I had planned to build something similar to this.http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e.../photo_11.html

Then just slip my 2.5 pipe over the end, mark it, and cut off enough to butt weld it.
