Lightbulb Not an LS1, but I need guidance...

Ok...The new sled needs big torque. For reasons unto my own, I want to make it with a turbo. Or turbos. Whichever.

This is a ghetto-rig, so if any of you guys have suggestions like, turbos that came in OEM setups that would work as twins (A friend suggested twin GN turbos), or cheap singles (The same guy recommended Holstein [I think] diesel turbos), by all means share. Im trying to do this on a budget. Big time power aint gonna happen, but significantly more than stock is the goal, as well as spool noises under the hood.

I dont want to go significantly outside the stock rev-range. I want to also keep the stock shortblock till I get out of school, so no nothing more than 6lbs or so. I figure that since Ill be using the iron heads (64cc chambers), I can stick a thicker head gasket on there, (like the aluminum-head GM gasket), and drop compression to around 9.65:1, and throw a real mild port at the heads while they're off...

Of course, then Ill need a new tranny...But thats besides the point.

*EDIT* - Also, I think a Furd powerstroke IC will fit nicely somewhere in that cavernous engine bay...See how this thing is getting thought out? One tidbit at a time...

Thoughts?

What kind of car are we talking here? Some info on the engine setup would also help.

I`d suggest the GM 6.5 turbo diesel turbos. Two of them with the power stroke intercooler should work well. or a single turbo off the 7.3 powerstroke would work decent also. watch the mustang boards you can find T60s somtimes for around $400.

"single turbo off the 7.3 powerstroke "
If your intrested in one pm me. I would go with some turbos off a 2.2 chystler personaly. Hardest part of a turbo setup as you will find is the oil system.
