Default 364ci LS2 turbo sizing

I am starting to gather parts for the turbo kit I'll be putting on. The entire combination hasn't been decided just yet but I believe I'll be using the stock LS2 shortblock thats currently in my car. It has ARP rod bolts and everything else in factory, it will most likely have 317s and a LS6 or similar cam. With the research that I've done so far I'm think of using a PT 76GTS turbo. The kit I have has a T4 flange which is what I'd like and is a front mount setup using truck manifolds. I have a good deal to learn here but I feel I'm on the right track, just looking for some good advice and hopefully personal experience from so of you with similar setups. This is a street driven car and this turbo seems to be a good balance between quick spooling and it doesn't seem to have nearly as much backpressure as some of the smaller 76mm housings.

Thoughts or opinions?

Sounds like a solid build plan. 76 to 82mm T4 turbo would be ideal for your setup. I would go bigger personally as you'll find more boost is never enough down the road.

I'm open to something like a PT88 but that turbo doesn't seem very efficient for its size and I don't want to get a BW or bullseye turbo for shear size and weight. not sure how hard it is to fit something of that size but I can stand the rad up if need be.

You should check out MightyMouse's build. I believe he's running a forged ls2 with a 90+mm T4 turbo and has had excellent results.

I was also recommended a Garrett GT76 which is upgradeable up to 91mm, this sounds like the best option yet.

The billet/cast 76gts would be a great street turbo with good manners. It will probably make 1000 crank hp or so.

76gts is a great unit, can't beat it for its size and performance capabilities. I've seen these units push close to 900rwhp and have excellent spooling. I believe they can be upgraded to 78 and even 80mm compressors.

staying auto?

problem with the 76 is it will be hard on pistons with pump gas, lots of boost/tq/cylinder pressure early, and unfortunately it will only show up as wheel spin and your ET's may actually suffer if on a street style radial

the 88 is heavier, slower, but has a much smoother and wider powerband for the larger cubes you have.

if 5.7 l it would be a hard decision.. 76mm with slightly relaxed exhaust wheel maybe for you

Yes it will always be an auto, most likely an 80E at the same time. I see what your saying about it spooling too fast. I intend on running a 28" radial and I know the street won't offer much traction. The 76 FI recommended come with a 1.23 A/R and that's what I'm leaning toward. Either that or an 80-88mm compressor wheel in the same turbo.

also would I be able to fit a turbo of this size in front, I was hoping to not have to hack up the kit I have.

update:
I picked up a PT88 that was gone over by precision. Hopefully the lag isn't terrible.

Once you get her tuned and dialed in I think you'll be happy with your decision.

just collecting parts at the moment and tearing it down this winter. Lots of things changing and I'm not really set on what I want to do with the motor just yet, will probably be stock internal for cost purposes.

wouldn't we all problem is the car isn't top priority, we just had our second daughter and are looking to move into a larger house soon so it may be a long term project.
