Default P1sc and p1sc-1 ?????'s

Earlier this week I read a thread in this forum that stated one difference between a p1sc and a p1sc-1 was the style of impellers. Now I understand that the the p1sc-1 would be more efficient because of the curved vanes on the impellers, but what other differences are there between the two? Also does the change in efficiency make much of a difference in performance ie: how hard the unit has to be spun to make a desired level of boost? And can you gurus also inform me of any other differences between the two units? I have an opportunity to get my hands on a pretty good deal for a p1sc but not sure if it will cause me grief and headaches that I don't need. I don't want to get something solely on $$$ but If the differences are minute then I will

Thanks for all info and replies gentlemen!!!

Not sure there is a ton of difference in efficiency between the two, they have been using that straight bladed impeller for quite a while with pretty good results. I seem to remember something about the P1SC-1 coming into boost a bit quicker on the LS1s thus the use on them. Something a little less universal and more tailored to the LS1?

I imagine, with substantially different impeller design, the compressor map would look a good bit different. Whether or not the differences in the map would positively or negatively affect running it on your engine is prolly a question for ProCharger.

P1SC-1 has better bearings and can be spun alittle faster.

P1SC = 62000rpm max
P1SC-1 = 65000rpm max

Take a look at (actual) page 45 which shows the supercharger specifications. Bob

The bearings are exactly the same. They rated the P1SC at a lower max RPM because the impeller is larger diameter.

The p1sc1 has the same impeller as a d1 but it is smaller.
