bypass valve question

bypass valve question

Pulled off a bypass valve (vortec v2 kit) today because of lost boost to check it and there was an o-ring hula hooping around the shaft and plate that opens and closes. I don't know much about how the bypass should operate but also when I push the plate up and cap my finger over the top nozzle the plate will bleed down slowly ( the same rate as if my finger where not capping it). What should I do and how do I know it is working properly? I appreciate any help. Thanks, Jeremy

So are these bypass valves supposed to close quickly or in like 15 sec like mine does?

A BPV should slam shut because theres a spring behind it. If theres an O-ring hanging out its binding the valve. If the valve can be opened up, replace the O-ring. If not, replace the whole BPV

Thanks man I just watched a youtube vid of a guy showing how a bpv should work and it slammed shut. Mine shuts really slow. Thanks for the input and taking the time to answer my newb question.
