Turbo oil leak problem So I have an 01 trans am and I just installed a sts rearmount intercooled setup on my car. It has stock turbo and stock sts oil pump, I started it up for first time Sunday night and took it for a text drive. Car starts building boost and seems to run fine, haven't gouged on it yet because I was goin to tune car tonight or tomorrow. Well I took car around block then brought it back into shop and checked it out, everything seemed great, I drove it up to gas station put gas in it, then drove it to the house, I noticed a little smoke when I was pulling up in driveway, so I killed car. Looked to have a little oil dripping around turbo area. So I let it sit overnight then started and moved it shop yesterday morning and put it on the rack and notice oil coming out exhaust side of turbo. Curious if anyone else has ran into this? I car hear scavenger pump, and the lines aren't leaking? Does the turbo sound like it needs a rebuild? Any help is appreciated
i ve heard that you need a checkvalve sometimes bc the pump wont suck the turbo dry. I have the same problem but dont know what kind of check valve to use or where to get it. anyone else know?
You can buy the check valve directly from STS I had the same problem and that fixed it the valve wasnt too expensive I bought one probably three years ago havent had a problem since.
