Default help choosing a turbo

i have a 68 camaro that im swaping a stock 5.3 truck motor into i will be using the truck intake and doing most of the work myself to keep the cost down. I am going to put a single turbo on it and biuld all the hotside piping myself. The biggest question i have is what size turbo will be best for me the motor id stock but in a year or so i may change the cam and do a little head work and maybe a different intake i would like to eventually get around 650-700whp out of it. I talked to turbo Dave and he said the precision 6865H would work real well on it its 68mm with a 65mm turbine t-4 flange the other was B/W S300 66mm with a t-4 flange. Iwas thinking of doing a S400 but they have a t-6 flange you can get a t-4 flange put on for $189 but that adds to the price. would the t-6 flange hurt it that bad i figure i wont turn the motor no more than about 6500RPM so i will neeed it to spool pretty quick. I dont have any experience with turbos so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

For the price and reliability, the masterpower t70 is pretty hard to beat.

I got something you'll like

Bugdet minded: Journal bearing $719.99 ball bearing $999
Magnum T72 or 76
(72mm or 76mm comp & 65mm or 68mm TW your choice)

Little more money to spend: journal bearing $899.99
Turbonetics TC72 or 76
(72mm or 76mm comp & 65mm or 68mm TW your choice)

There other many options that can get this done for you with different levels of performance and price. Call me and I'll explain further.

thanks
Rob

I want to have a car thats fun on the street and strip so i would like to have a turbo that wil spool fast and make power up to around 6500RPM and push the car to10.00-10.50s i really dont want to go much more than 10.00s because i dont want to deal with all the certifications. Thanks

If you are building it yourself....I'd recommend going with a T6 flange and the BW S400. You didnt mention if the car was going to be std or automatic. Trust me....once you get a taste of the boost, you will be hooked! With the T6 flange you will have lots of room to grow and still make plenty HP at low boost levels.

6865 is too small. A P-trim turbine wheel has no business on a V8 motor unless its in twin configuration. I would suggest a S400-72 T4 based unit or if you have time to wait we have a new series of Tnetic units coming.

I'm with this guy. A T6 S475 is cheeeeep and if you're building it yourself then no worries. Get a smaller A/R and have fun with it with tons of potential in the future.

i have used Precision Billet 76gts I will sell you. I'm going with a pt88 instead for my 347. It will make power till 6500 rpm on your 5.3 and start spooling decently soon. Do some research on them and see if its what your looking for. If it is PM me. Good luck with the build!

I will be using a S475, T6, 1.10 ar on my 5.3 along with the Brutespeed FI cam, the price is awesome, cheaper than a TC unit. A spool valve can be added if necessary, but thats still under a grand for a turbo most will never outgrow
