Default Custom procharger mounting (fbody)?

I just bought a used procharger kit cheap, the only problem is that it's for a truck so its missing the crank pulley and the j bracket.

So my question is does anyone have the dimensions for the bracket and maybe i can make one at the shop? Or has anyone actually mounted the head unit somewhere besides in front of the alternator?

I have read a little about mounting it like on the corvettes but haven't seen any pictures or really heard of anyone actually doing it?

The truck systems use a standard rotation and the 98-02 F Body use a reverse rotation. Basically this means it won't work unless you send the blower in to ProCharger to have it rebuilt, which is expensive. Bob

...and how expensive is it going to be to get a custome bracket made when you then have to figure out the routing of the belt so that it won't slip.

My advice, sell or return the head unit and get one that actually works for our cars.

Has anyone Tried to make a bracket to mount a reverse rotation? It would just have to mount it with the pulley facing the radiator

Inspector12(I think) used to have an F1 set up that used a standard rotaion head unit that had the blower mounted down low still where the alternator was.

IMHO just sell that head unit and get a reverse rotation one and buy a J bracket

Ok so why does the rotation matter?

I know this sounds real scientific but I hooked up the procharger to the electric impact in my shop and it seems to work right either direction. Am I missing something

Think of it as a pump. The impeller is designed to spin in a certain direction. If you spin it the wrong way it won't pump.

There was a guy on here who had the wrong rotation and saw a lot less boost than he should have. He was getting 3-4psi when he should have seen 9-10psi.

I talked to procharger today and they said the same thing as The Alchemist.
Also that it would take $1500 to rebuild it.

I think I'm gonna try to find a way to run this one. Anyone ever built a bracket odd the frame or body?

Say maybe where the battery goes? I may try mocking that up tomorrow. Anyone have any ideas on mounting?

The bracket must be attached to the motor. The engine moves during operation, and if the blower were attached to the frame or body it would not move with the engine. That will at best cause belts to snap every time you drive it.

I still think you'd be better off selling your head unit to someone who can use it as it is, and then buying a reverse rotation head unit for our cars.

The head units from the '96-'04 Mustangs are a direct fit for the LS1 F-body kits.
