Default Stock LQ4 and boost build advice

I get home from hell in a little under a month and have a 2004 LQ4 with 145k on it that I am putting in my 85 C10. I plan to tear it down and put new bearings and rings in it with a fresh hone and replace the gaskets that need replacement. Everything will remain "factory" and I plan to add at least a TC78. I will keep the boost between 8-10lbs on the street and possibly bump it up to 12 with a little extra octane for the occasional trip down the 1/4 mile and keep the revs under 6200. Will this be a "safe" combo while I am saving for my 390 forged shortblock? Anything different you would do? I have other stuff that I am doing to my truck at the same time that I want/need done before I build the forged motor and go crazy. I want to have the truck built up to handle the higher boost/forged motor before it's built, but I still want to have a fast truck. I quess anything is better than the 17 sec 305 that is in it now. I would really like to see an 11sec time slip.

To get things rolling quickly, Id just do a comp test and if all else is good, hit it with a 150 shot till the turbo n 390 are funded and done. Just my $.02 though.

I have wanted a turbo from day 1. I have thought about nitrous and a higher cr N/A build but I always come back to boost. I just won't be as happy w/o boost. I am also thinking of leaving the stock cam in it. Should I replace the lifters/pushrods and springs?

I broke down my LQ4 over the weekend, looked at the rods and pistons, then looked at the Eagle rods and SRP Pistons going into the LQ4 next to mine and developed ***** envy. I figured "since its apart, why not"

I am holding out for the 390 from AES, it comes out a couple hundred more than just rods and pistons.
