WTB: Is it ok to buy used blower ?

WTB: Is it ok to buy used blower ? I really want an ATI D1SC or the Vortec V-9 blower for my 2002 TA but being a student and all, it's hard for me to afford one at a new price.
Is it ok to buy a used one and what are some things to look for. I only have about $3000. Will that be enough to get a used kit ?
