Default Turbo selection. usable 575rwtq target.

Looking for some input on the right turbo for my build. Planning a single turbo setup for my c5 Z06 similar to the cerra/hinson. I need the packaging to be as small as possible to make fitment as pain free as can be(T4, 3" turbine, max 76mm compressor). My goal is a good usable 575rwTQ with the power as early and broad as possible(think positive displacement). Not looking to rev the hell out of it(6400 redline). I wouldnt mind the ability to turn up the boost later, but only if the reponse impacts at my target power are minimal.

I've been looking at 67mm size turbos like the turbonetics hurricane and TC series. But would really like the input of guys running in this power range. Any advice on sizing and a/r combos would be great

Car has a 228r cam and I'm not looking to change that or the heads. Stock bottom.

Thanks in advance for any advice

tc78 with 1.15 ar will spool plenty fast with room to grow. It is the same size as any tc turbo you could hit you goals with a smaller turbo but the 78 will spool fast so why get a small turbo for a small spool gain and have no room to grow?

Thanks for the input room to grow is only a minor concern. The small spool gains are exactly what I want to maximize. I've built a 650rw procharged C5 and a turboed rx8. Both were peaky(poor rx8 was gutless until 8k rpm). So I have a very good idea of what I want out of this build. This time its all about the torque. I'm trying to find the right turbo to be dead in the middle of its effeciency map right where I want the power.

yeah the rx8 has no torque to start with, the ls1 will make torque down low to get the a turbo this small spooled asap. and a pro charger will be linear power delivery. there is plenty of dyno plots with a 76/78mm tc unit I would do a search and see if the delivery is fast enough for you.

First of all, T56 or 4L60? It could skew your dyno numbers.
If you do a TC67 will probably get you there. If you do have a maximum goal, go with that, as the smaller the turbo the faster the spool (yes, even a few mm will matter, as angular momentum is proportional to the square of the turbo's diameter, which means if you double the size, it takes 4 times longer to get there).

Might want to read a few threads on performancetrucks.net forced induction section (sibling website to ls1tech), as they generally don't turn there motors as hard as f bodies. Example:

Manual trans, no auto Z06. Thanks for the source! Yea, trouble I've had is nearly everyone here is shooting for much bigger numbers or a very high rpm power band for the track. I'm trying to get the perfect street car with the ability to run easy 10s when I get the urge.
