Default Boost Spike/Drop

I'm experiencing a boost spike and then massive drop-off. It only seems to happen in 4th gear at high RPMs. I've got a Turbosmart "in cabin" Manual boost controller on it and I do know there is a spring I can remove to make it more modest. I also was looking into an Electric Boost controler. Should I just say the hell with it and get the E-Boost Controller, or is there any info you guys can send my way. I was told it could just be a weak spring. But if I'm to invest any money at all, I would just as soon get an electric controller. Just want to make sure there isn't any tricks out there that I dont know, thanks.
